Skincare Routine + Tips For A Radiant Glow

Being at home so frequently this past year (has it really been a WHOLE ASS year?) has pushed all of us to take up new hobbies, projects, and indulge our interests. This perpetual boredom, coupled with my girly girl obsession with grooming, (and the at times inescapable vanity that comes with pursuing a career on camera) has all in all managed to turn me into a skincare nut, and inspired me to invest in and refine my routine into one that I'm proud of. So I thought I’d take some time to share!

As a little disclaimer I’m not an esthetician or dermatologist (duh tf), but I have taken the time to do the research on my products and through some trial and error, have developed a routine to keep my skin clear, healthy, soft, and radiant! My skin is combination, and sensitive, and my specific concerns are clarity and maintaining a healthy glow, so I tailor my routine to these needs. If you’re somewhat similar, these might work for you!

Since middle school when my mom (s/o Jackie) first introduced me to skincare, I’ve always used the three step regimen as a basis: cleanser, toner, and moisturizer. So I’ll start with each of those "essentials" before I move into the extras I’ve picked up along the way.

Tatcha: Deep Cleanse

This product is comprised of Tatcha’s signature blend, including tiny exfoliants derived from the Japanese Loofa Fruit. These provide a subtle and gentle exfoliation that isn’t irritating or abrasive to my sensitive skin. It also leaves my skin somewhat dewy after a wash, which might be more concerning for someone with a more oily texture, but I love that it leaves me looking refreshed. Would recommend.

Mario Badescu Witch Hazel and Rosewater Toner

This toner specifically targets the clarity and radiance of your complexion and works to remove impurities. I always feel like it’s the perfect follow up to my cleanse and my skin looks much healthier after use. The product is slightly fragranced, but subtle enough and the toner is soothing to the skin.

Clean & Clear Dual Action Moisturizer

I've tried a lot of the higher-end moisturizers from various brands and find ultimately that none of them do anything that this one can't. This is my old faithful in terms of moisturizer. It's oil-free, includes an acne fighting ingredient, and can be purchased at the drugstore.

Pure Nanosteamer

Aside from being an instant relaxant, my nano steamer has been a game-changer in helping maintain my even complexion. I use it sometimes in the morning just to wake me up, and it leaves my skin with a glow that lasts throughout the day. Steam is useful for opening the pores, so I usually use it prior to my cleanse or between my cleanse and my toner, so that I can work those active ingredients deep down.
This is probably my favorite thing on this list because it offers instant radiant results. I recommend using only distilled water (they sell it in a jug at the store), otherwise the particles in tap water could get caught in the filter and actually be harmful to your skin.

Tatcha Violet-C Radiance Mask

This mask includes two different types of vitamin C, and brightens the skin exponentially. Just leave on for 10-20 minutes and voila! It's also fine for every skin type, and won't increase your oil production or dry you out.

Sunday Riley C.E.O 15% Vitamin C Serum

Again with the Vitamin C, but it really is like the cheat code to a radiant complexion. I like this serum because it’s lightweight, doesn’t feel greasy on the skin, and provides the essential radiance boost you need if you find your skin is looking a bit dull. Of all the things on this list it’s the most pricey (I keep cashing in on my Sephora points until I finally have to bite the bullet and buy the big one) you don’t need much product at all, less than a dime sized amount will go a long way.

Other general tips:

  • No foundation, if you can help it.
  • Be gentle with your face!
  • Skin around your eyes is especially sensitive, never rub product around the eye area, rather gently dab it in.
  • Don’t forget your neck or sunscreen!
